P.C. Silences P.I.

Last night Bill Maher put to rest his show, "Politically Incorrect". I really admired him for his candor and passion, therefore I will miss the show alot. It was one place you could go and hear a conversation with people from all walks of life with different points of view. And, hey....you could still remain friends...what an accomplishment. On his bow out, he chose to pay tribute to 4 of the people he made friends with over the years: Arianna Huffington, Ann Coulter (someone I love to hate, but can't stop reading), Michelle Phillips, and Christopher "Kid" Reid -- a very diverse group, I might add. Anyway, he mostly paid tribute to them, and all the guests who visited his show, the writers, and people behind the scenes, and the audience. He felt all of these people were brave, courageous, and open-minded about ideas. Hopefully, he'll take this show on cable....

Astrologist Predicts the Demise of "Bette"

I can not believe this!!!! An astrologist pretty much predicted the outcome of Bette Midler's short-lived TV show, "Bette". For the most part the astrologist was right on the money with the reason's why....

Under What?

Everybody's up in arms about the judge in San Fransisco who ruled that the "Pledge of Allegiance" is unconstitutional because of the words "under God". The issue is between the seperation of church and state. At first I was saddened by the whole thing, but after doing some research, I found out the pledge has been ammended twice. My solution would be to change it back to the pre-1954 pledge which did not include "under God". Or, when people recite the pledge--just let them fill in the blank of their own deity....I can just hear everybody screaming different names out at one time....a true Monty Python moment.

Sidebars and Such....

Today I set up links on the sidebar of this page. Please take the time to browse through them. I will have or add links to my favorite sites as I find them. I will also be adding items frequently to the "my entertainment" section. In the aforementioned section you will be able to see what music, books, movies, and television shows have caught my fancy. This can be good and/or bad. If any of those strikes a chord, I'll go into it in more detail. Thanks for dropping by....

Rest In Peace, Sophie

My Cat, Sophie, died yesterday suddenly. She was 16 years old. I first found her at my doorstep, a shy little thing. I remember thinking she must have been abused because she was very skittish and somewhat distant in her look. However, I never found any signs of abuse, so maybe it was genetic....

She was one of those cats that didn't like to be touched much. For a good year, she wouldn't come out of the closet in the bedroom, so I made her a little bed on a bottom shelf there. The only time you'd ever see her was when she came out to eat. I also had 2 other cats-- a one year old and an 18 year old. The 18 year old was the meanest cat I had ever seen--she came with Barry:-) But I think Sophie knew her place and was very scared of "Mama" Kitty.

Anyway through the years she would come out in different rooms....you could almost gauge a year by it....in her fourth year she seemed to be able to get around the full house without getting too frightened. But she did seem distanced, brain damaged, so to speak. But I loved her very much....she was a gray and white (the color of snow) Cat. One of her best talents were after she had gone to the bathroom. She took her time covering up--but the sand or dirt would be in the shape of a flower or the sun with all it's rays shining. Very meticulous. She did this even in a littler box.

When we moved to Nashville, her personality seemed to blossom. By then "Mama Kitty had died so there was not much use in being a "fraidy cat" then. We live on 3 acres and she got to where she loved going outside on the porch or jumping onto the roof where she could look down on everything. She even caught her first live creature...a cute little chipmunk...which was saved, by the way...Sophie was too gentle to make a mark. Anyway, the last couple years of her life were happy and she became more friendly..

At the end of each day, you would always find her, a little distant, but curled up at the bottom of my bed, warming my feet...

Goodnight Sophie...rest in peace....
