ACE Nominations 2018

Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water, Steven Spielberg’s The Post, and Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk continue to garner recognition with the unveiling of nominees for the 68th annual ACE Eddie Awards. But with the foreseeable standouts also come works like Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 and Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver, films with less awards season accolades to their name.

Editors across film and television were recognized by the American Cinema Editors in the list of nominations announced Wednesday. Seth Meyers will emcee the 2018 ceremony from the same location on Jan. 7. The Golden Globes will air live at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on NBC.

Produced by Dick Clark Productions in association with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Golden Globes honor achievements in film and television, both domestic and foreign.

The Critics’ Choice Awards, which aired on A&E last year in December, is moving back to the CW a month later to January 11, four days after the Golden Globes. It will be broadcast live from 8-10 PM.

The apocalyptic action movie Mad Max: Fury Road dominated nominations for the 21st annual Critics Choice Awards, announced today by The Broadcast Film Critics Association and Broadcast Television Journalists Association. This campy horror film, based on a campy 2010 mashup novel, seemed like it had the potential to be great fun. It’s not clear whether the movie suffered from being released the same year as Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, or whether it was another case of a film with a hilarious title that, when it came right down to it, not many people were willing to pay money to see (Snakes On a Plane, anyone?).
