LOS ANGELES (Dec. 1, 2010) — Nominations for the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards® (www.grammy.com) were announced tonight by The Recording Academy® and reflected an eclectic mix of the best and brightest in music over the past year, as determined by the voting members of The Academy. For the third year, nominations for the annual GRAMMY Awards were announced on primetime television as part of “The GRAMMY® Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night®,” a one-hour special broadcast live on CBS from Club Nokia at L.A. Live. Facebook, Twitter, digital music sales and video streams aren’t the only things Lady Gaga‘s crushed recently. Lady Gaga’s also leading the 2010 MTV VMA nominees with 13 total nominations. The VMAs haven’t even been given away yet, but Gaga’s already “won” two distinctions: she received the most nominations ever in a single VMA year, and she’s the first female artist nominated for two different videos in the “Video of the Year” category for “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” featuring Beyoncé. Last night, the 2010 (and 10th annual) BET Award winners were named in Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Top honors went to Beyonce for her collaboration with Lady Gaga, ‘Video Phone’, which took home Video of the Year. The other half of Beyonce’s power couple, Jay-Z, also took home an award, sharing Best Collaboration with Alicia Keys for ‘Empire State of Mind’. Keys also won Female Artist of the Year. Read More

Drake, Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj lead the pack of nominees for the 10th annual BET Awards, while the network revealed that Queen Latifah will host the momentous event.

The nominations were announced at the 230 Fifth Rooftop Garden Bar and Restaurant in New York City earlier today (May 18). Drake is nominated for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and twice for Best Collaboration for “Successful” with Trey Songz and “Forever” featuring Eminem, Lil Wayne and Kanye West.
