2015 Satellite Awards Nominations


The dark comedy “Birdman” received a leading 10 nominations today for the 19th annual Satellite Awards, which are presented by the International Press Academy.

The film was nominated for best motion picture, along with “Boyhood,” “Gone Girl,” “Love is Strange,” “Mr. Turner,” “Selma,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “The Imitation Game,” “The Theory of Everything” and “Whiplash.” Read More

Independent Spirit Awards 2015 Nominations Announced


As per tradition, the Spirit Awards will be held at a beach-front luncheon in Santa Monica, Calif., on Feb. 21, the day before the 87th Academy Awards. The ceremony serves as a prelude to Oscars Sunday. Last year, 12 Years a Slave, Matthew McConaughey, Cate Blanchett, Jared Leto, and Lupita Nyong’o all won in their respective categories at the Independent Spirit Awards before taking home their Academy Awards the following day.

2012 Independent Spirit Awards Nominations

Film Independent announced the nominees for the 2011 Independent Spirit Awards this morning and “Take Shelter” and “The Artist” received the most nominations with five each. “The Descendants,” “Drive” and “Martha Marcy May Marlene” received four respectively.  Surprising nominations came for internationally financed “The Artist” in the best feature film category and George Clooney and Kirsten Dunst not receiving nominations in the lead actor categories.
