GLAAD lists 2008 media nominees

The Advocate has been nominated for four awards, including best overall magazine coverage, in the 19th annual GLAAD Media Awards. The list of 117 nominees spans books, television, advertising, music and film, GLAAD announced Sunday at the Sundance Film Festival.

Special honors will be given to cable network BETJ during the New York ceremony, The Intelligence Report magazine in South Florida and to Theater Rhinoceros in San Francisco.

GLAAD also announced that it will recognize special honorees Brian Graden at the New York ceremony, Janet Jackson, Rufus Wainwright and Herb Ritts in Los Angeles, Ilene Chaiken and David Mixner in San Francisco and Wilson Cruz in South Florida.

With shows like “Dirty Sexy Money” and “Greek,” ABC has nine nominations, the most of the broadcast networks, while Logo leads the cable pack with five nominations.

The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will be held March 17 in New York; April 12 in south Florida; April 26 in Los Angeles and May 10 in San Francisco. (The Advocate)
