Uhn Uhn Uhn….Pity country music today and the poor ole people who have to listen to it. The days of the real troubadour, cowboy, old Kitty saloon singer are over…not that that’s bad, but too bad I have to hear it.
Today it’s all about how you look…fuck your singing…they can fix that in the studio, thus the rise of new pixie Taylor Swift…a sweet piece of fluff with questionable talent and rich parents. I’ve heard better in my bathroom or out of my babysitters. But you have to admit she’s adorable and she probably doesn’t know what hit her. She’ll do fine when she ages as a writer.
There are some old standby’s but they’re not represented here except for a sprinkiling of a Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Allison Krause here and there. And let’s not leave out the beautiful AND talented Jennifer Nettles’ of Sugarland. But honey, the rest can toss my salad. Please let this year be the demise of Rascal Flatts and their tone deaf lead singer and that poor “dressed by his mama” Kenny Chesney. Both you dudes don’t know how LUCKY you were to have made it. Count your blessings boys, ya did something right in a past life. Wow, tuning helps!

Girl, the AMA’s were created way back in 1973 or thereof by Dick Clark to take on the bunghole boringness of the ever stuffy Grammy’s. Whereas the Grammy’s were voted on by the starch-necked insiders of the music business, the AMA’s were picked by a sampling of the American public which eventually boiled down to what the mainstream maggots were listening to…yeah, either way, Gonadra was fucked. However, I must say the performances were much more interesting.
So now we have this year’s AMA’s and boy have they made sure they really fucked up the show — online voting. This show will be so watered down it might become a new torture at Gitmo. Yeah, I went there…get out of my face bitch! That means nothing but little tween tweeters with nocturnal emissions voting over and over again leaving us tired workers like Ms. de’ Saquette with her one vote. With all that said, here are my picks for the AMA’s. May the gods of rock spare us the rod….hmmm or maybe not:

The eligibility period for the 2008 CMA Awards runs from July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008. All nominated works (singles, albums, videos, etc.) must have been first released during the eligibility period. CMA award winners are determined by votes cast by professional members of the Country Music Association. Winners for the 42nd annual CMA Awards will be announced during the live broadcast on Nov. 12, 2008. Induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame is country music’s biggest honor. Election to the hall is solely the prerogative of the CMA. Each year (since the hall’s inception in 1961), an anonymous panel of country music insiders select outstanding persons who have made significant contributions to the advancement of country music.

Mister D:
Yes, it’s that time of year when all of us get the chance to play “auction” and never make a win. But BOY is it fun to look at all the prizes and the prices people will pay to slum with the high and mighty. Jealous? You BETTE! Maybe I should just max out my credit card since I’m losing everything else in these depressive times. Anyway, take a gander at some of the things you can bid on: Click Here
Love, Mister D
These are just a few examples of auction items…Have fun and I hope some of us win something!

Mister D:
I don’t usually do this, but I just had to congratulate this beautiful couple on their upcoming nuptuals on October 18.
I’ve known Julia for over 4 years, on-line and off-line. I feel like I know Art, too, because Miss Thing would never shut up about him, as if I cared to hear about him! Julia is so beautiful inside and out that, heck, I even wanted a shot at her…so what if I’m gay. That’s just a minor hump to get over in a marriage, right?. But anyway, she picked Art, and he does turn out to be the perfect choice for Julia.
I’ve only been to one wedding, so I really don’t know what to do or say….so congratulations and may you have a wonderful life together as long as you both may live. Barry and I recently celebrated (actually we both forgot!) our 26th anniversary together. Of course, in the eye of the law, we’re not married, but in our reality we are. So I’m just ripe for advice if either of you ever need it….LOL
Anyway, I found this great poem that I will leave with you. I don’t know who wrote it…it’s anonymous, but I thought it to be appropriate:
What is marriage?
Marriage is more than the exchange of rings
and the sharing of a household;
It is much more than just living together.
It is the desire to truly want to know and
understand another human being;
to feel and share in that person’s
happiness, as well as their pain.
Marriage is to never feel alone;
but rather, to know that you always
have a friend; a partner in life that
you can laugh and cry with.
To know that you always have that
special someone to share your
innermost thoughts and fears,
and know that you will be heard.
Marriage is helping your partner to be
the absolute best that they can be,
while still being able to experience
your own need and goals.
Marriage is love;
true love that goes far beyond passion;
It is a love that you can reach for
in times of crisis as well as joy,
and know it will be there
to comfort and to share.
I think that poem sums up marriage pretty well. I wish nothing but the best for the two of you. I ask everyone who reads BLB to remember the 18th and make a toast to this divine couple. If not for them, then just do it as an excuse to get drunk!
Congrats Julia and Art!
Love,
Don “Mister D” Bradshaw
