Big Tractors, Big Names and Big Fun At Celebrity Tractor Race
Friday, June 15 2007 @ 04:41 AM EDT
Contributed by: ACstaff Big Tractors, Big Names and Big Fun At Celebrity Tractor Race
Nashville, TN- June 12, 2007- Former Tennessee Titan running back, Eddie George and his wife Taj, were surprise contestants at the Second Annual Michael Peterson/New Holland Celebrity Tractor Race, Sunday June 10th at the CMA Music Festival’s Chevy Sports Zone in downtown Nashville. The Super Bowl champ joined several country music stars, including Billy Dean, Ty Herndon and Woody Bradshaw plus fellow Titans Daniel Loper, Michael Roos and Ben Hartsock in a race against the clock on a New Holland compact tractor.
George clocked a race time of 1:57, but Texas cowboy, Todd Fritsch, won the competition with a phenomenal track time of 52.6 seconds, a new course record.
Todd Fritsch is not only a top selling country artist, but he is also a working cowboy and the perfect contestant for this competition – he drove his first tractor at the age of five! He also spent four years as a member of the FFA before launching his music career.
The Michael Peterson/New Holland Celebrity Tractor Race is a benefit for charity and half of the proceeds from the auction of a New Holland Boomer Tractor autographed by all the racers will be donated to the National FFA Organization. As the winner of the race, Fritsch’s charity of choice for the other half of the proceeds will be Saddle Up! Nashville, a therapeutic recreational horseback riding program designed for children with mental and physical disabilities.

“When approached by CMA about a tractor race featuring celebrity drivers, the concept was not only greeted with great enthusiasm, but the CMA staff worked closely with us to assure that the program would be a success,” said Peterson, celebrity spokesperson for New Holland. “The teamwork we shared with the CMA, along with the true professional friendship we developed together, was the backbone of our success and the reason we are back again in 2007. When you work with great people, great ideas happen, and we’re proud to now be a successful part of this tremendous music festival.”
A New Holland Boomer compact tractor that was signed by last year’s participating celebrities will be available through an online auction until midnight on Saturday, June 9. Half of the winning bid will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the other half will go to Habitat for Humanity on behalf of 2006 Tractor Race champ, Wade Hayes. The online winner will be announced at the race on Sunday, June 10. This year’s autographed tractor will be offered on the virtual auction block, too; once again the winning driver picks his or her favorite charity for half of New Holland’s donation, with the rest going to the National Future Farmers of America.
The Chevy Sports Zone will host many other activities and displays sponsored by Chevrolet throughout the four days of CMA Music Festival.
