Just wanted to get this on record to show my accomplishments (to myself) and how so, so far I have to go. Okay, it’s not that bad! But I did want a reminder as to the songs I played and if I can gauge it…the crowd’s reaction, if possible. All the songs are preceded by stage patter that hopefully sequeways into the musical composition. If not, then it’s tough shit…I just like to talk.

I performed basically to a crowd of 7-10. You have to start somewhere. I didn’t even invite friends or relatives to this one. Or at least, I didn’t remind them…and of course, none of them came…LOL

Song List:

Stage Patter: How I Became Gay – was it the song or the horrible girlfriend. After I wrote this..I did neither again. Got the attention of the straight club for sure and applause for coming out…well, it was a bold move. And it helped me be honest and open for the rest of the night.

1. The Chicken Song by Don Bradshaw

Stage Patter: Small towns and tramps

2. Louise by Paul Seibel

Stage Patter: Talked about my friend who wrote “New Orleans” and how she painted me this wonderful stool with my face on it. How I could sit on my own face and that no one else would ever, ever be given that opportunity. You just don’t cover Mister D’s face! Beautiful song!!!

3. New Orleans by Rebecca Hosking

Stage Patter: Talked about being in the hospital for a lobotomy or something and how I was put in wing for the elderly….ewwwww!!! How I got sick of old people’s games and collages…so I finally started talking to them and listening to the wisdom they had to give and happy they were someone paid attention to them.

4. Hello In There by John Prine

Stage Patter: An original by a friend of mine from London. Fabulous poppy song about robbing a bank and getting over the county line. Perfect for the Go Go’s or if you’re into country..SheDaisy. I would have The Dixie Chicks do it, but after condemning Bush (you go, Natalie!!!) and killing Earl…robbing a bank is small potatoes for these girls.

5. Getaway Car by Lorna Flowers

Stage Patter: Don’t Ya Just Love Alice Cooper? I love her!!!! But not very pretty to wake up to the next morning!!!

6. I Never Cry by Alice Cooper

Stage Patter: An original by a friend of mine. He’s been in 2 rock bands, Brian and The Nightmares and The Shapeshifters. He’s married to a lovely lady, Kim, whom I adore. However, he may daydream about her, but I daydream about him…he could shift my shape into any position he wanted to….LOL

7. Daydream by Brian Relleva

Stage Patter: This song came from a new CD by Will Kimbrough called, “Americanitus”…just awesome. The song deals with being a little perturbed about the current administration and it’s policies. However, it’s done with subtle humor and a killer melody to make it go down nice and easy. I thought I had to contact the artisit to do this song since it was off a brand new CD….so I did and he told me he’d be honored for me to cover it. So I did…and it’s a blast to sing and play.

8. Less Polite by Will Kimbrough

Stage Patter: Thanks for having me, yada, yada….then beg to have them bring you back!

All the songs at this gig were received very well. I don’t think there was a clinker among this selection with this particular group. There was no talking or noise like other gigs I’ve seen…which is a plus in my mind.

Love, Mister D
