The Billboard Music Awards finalists are “based on album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social-media interactions,” and it could be Taylor Swift‘s night as she leads with an impressive 14 nominations, followed by Sam Smith at 13, Iggy Azalea with 12 and Meghan Trainor with nine nominations.

Here Are The 2015 Country Music Television Music Award Nominees – Airs June 10th

Country Music Television, otherwise known simply as CMT, announced the nominees for the 2015 Country Music Television Awards yesterday, and the lineup features the biggest names in contemporary country music, as well as a few special newcomers. Country sweetheart Carrie Underwood leads the nominations with five nods, including two for Female Video of the Year.

 

The CMT Awards are essentially country music’s equivalent of the MTV Video Music Awards, as both are held by a channel that specializes (or used to) in airing music videos. The CMTs are one of the biggest awards in the country music industry, along with the CMAs (Country Music Association Awards) and the ACMs (Academy of Country Music Awards). The winners of this award are voted by the fans, so those in love with the genre can get involved. The 2015 CMT Awards will air on the channel on June 10th starting at 8 PM EST.
